We have known Corrado Assenza, and his Caffè Sicilia, for many years and we have developed, with him, a personal relationship that has become far more solid and profound than most of all other professional relations to date.
With our travel design activity we meet, every year, many people - between them artisans, cooks and hosts - with whom we naturally grow strong ties especially with the ones we ultimately feel closer.
This is what happened with Corrado. But at a higher degree.
Corrado is, for us, in once, a champion of charme and knowledge, a low-profile master cook, a rare example of emotional intelligence and a sincere friend - often too far to fully enjoy his precious company.
Corrado chose to be “far" decades ago and with his simple rules and beliefs he has inspired, before our very eyes, dozens of travellers, food professionals, young chefs and expert restaurateurs.
His words and his innate way of communicating have made things clear about the pure essence of food, and nourishment and the often long-forgotten holiness of handling and transforming produces in a kitchen.
The whole food industry owes him a big deal of recognition and gratitude.
